Because I felt the group needed a little more in depth info regarding rules, standards/expectations, and Open Canvas resources.

What is Open Canvas
Open Canvas is a digital art program created by Portalgraphics. It began as freeware, and version 1.1 is still available for free, as well, you can freely download one of the newer versions for a 30-use trial. After 30 uses the save will be disabled. While Open Canvas lacks some of the tools and capabilities that programs like Adobe Photo shop offer, it has several features that Adobe doesn’t. One of the most well known features is the Event File.
“Users can save event files of their work, which when opened, will replay the steps that were taken to create the work. These files can also be shared among users. These files are useful for showing others how something was drawn, or for one's own reference. Event files can be locked, so they cannot be edited, or unlocked and editable. The file extension for event files changes with the version; 1.1 files are .wpe, 2.+ are .oes, 3.+ are .oe3, and 4.+ are oe4. – Wikipedia”

Another feature is Networking – in which users can connect with each other for privet drawing sessions. However this feature is only available in version 1.1

The Group Basics

As stated several times before, this is a group founded to encourage, teach, and explore the use of ALL versions of Open Canvas.
We are not focused on talent and style, as an admin I feature work based on these concepts 1)creative 2)unique coloring or use of Open Canvas and 3)a clear amount of effort put into creating the picture. So never expect to see sketches, and simple doodles end up in the featured folder unless it's exceptional for what it is.

Favorites are selected based on how relevant they are to Open Canvas, and how useful they may be to members. If you look, you'll see Open Canvas stamps, tutorials from inactive accounts, etc.

Commenting - while commenting on other members work is NOT required, it is ENCOURAGED. Everyone enjoys praise and advice on their hard work, spread some of it around. Just be sure to ALWAYS read the artist comments before you comment. This should be common sense when looking at any work on DA.

:bulletred: Rules :bulletred:

1) No Flaming others! As I've said numerous times, style and talent are not important here! If a member is caught or reported for flaming another member on any of their Open Canvas work found in the group, or anywhere on the group - and evidence is found of such, this will result in an automatic ban!

2) Please submit work to the correct folders as it can be annoying for admins to move work to the correct folder. For details on what work goes in what folder, read the "Welcome" on the main page.

3) Mature work is allowed, but it MUST be filtered so that those who do not wish to see it, do not have to. If you submit unfiltered mature work, it will be deleted and will not be allowed until it is filtered.

4) All works submitted MUST be created with Open Canvas - any version, in fact it would be very helpful if the version of Open Canvas used to create the picture is posted in your artist comments. You are allowed to mix programs - e.i. You can submit work in which the line art was created with a different program and then finished/fully colored in Open Canvas. Also, it is expectable to submit animations, so long as all the images were created in Open Canvas, and animated in another program. If it is found that an image submitted was not created with Open Canvas, it will be DELETED.

Contributors

These are people who are either active, helpful or have benefited the group in a huge way.
:star: Become a Contributor :star:
Submit at least 14 works, or 2 tutorials/resources! It’s that easy!
Contributors have the power to:
1) submit directly to the Featured folder.
2) submit favorites.
3) edit and add blogs. Please do not delete any blogs unless asked to by admin. With this privilege comes great responsibility. If you should post anything cruel, ignorant, and in violation of the group’s core value – e.i. demining other members because of talent or style, you will automatically be demoted back to a member or even banned depending on the severity. And please do not post anything silly and mindless, all members and watchers will see the blog in their messages, please don’t waste our time – these sort of blogs will be deleted.

Concerns
:bulletblue: If you experience flaming or cruelty from another member please save the entire conversation and note me (founder) right away! As angry as it may make you, don’t try and fix this on your own, it’s best if you don’t reply to their comment at all that way it doesn’t turn into something worse!

:bulletred: If you find yourself banned from the group and would like to know why, plead your case, and/or beg and grovel to be allowed back in, send me (founder) a calm, well written and thought out note and I will work this out with you.

:bulletpink: If you would like to add any additional information to this please note me or post a comment. I would love your feedback on it! I promise I don’t bite, despite how… strict this may seem ;)

First of all: Thank you for leting me join! :la:

Well, I've read the Blog but still there is a question.
I usually create my pics in OpenCanvas -from sketch to colo- but I use second programs -GIMP, PS Elements- to alter the images and add textures and stuff... am I allowed to post these, too?
